Sutton Coldfield Town Centre set for exciting year of events

Sutton Coldfield Town Centre BID has revealed details of an exciting calendar of events coming to the Royal Town this year.

Food Festival

Following the huge success of its inaugural Food Festival last year, organisers have announced that the popular event will return for 2019, with both a summer celebration and the addition of an autumn festival.

Foodies throughout the region will be able to sample some of the best culinary delights from a whole host of pop-up restaurants, street food vendors, local producers and breweries from Sutton Coldfield and across the Midlands.

Month of Music

The much-loved Month of Music will again bring a celebration of live music to the town in July, with a packed line-up of talented local artists taking to the stage at venues throughout the centre.

Budding musicians will be invited to take part in Sutton Has Musical Talent, offering hopefuls the opportunity to perform in front of a panel of expert judges to be in with a chance of being crowned winner of the competition.

In an unmissable month for music-lovers, Sutton Coldfield Town Centre will also host live performances as part of the Birmingham, Solihull and Sandwell Jazz Festival, bringing even more live music to Royal Town throughout July.

Expo

Sutton Coldfield’s popular one-day exhibition, Expo, is also set to return this autumn, which will see the parade come to life with a host of businesses, charities, and community groups showcasing their varied offering.

With a board of over ten local business people at the helm, the BID aims to help develop the already strong offering in Sutton Coldfield, supporting local businesses by delivering a range of events, workshops and investment in the area.

The town centre has seen several significant investments in recent months, with extensive renovation work is taking place at popular pubs, The Bottle of Sack and The Gate, Atkinsons the Jeweller moving to a new unit in the Gracechurch Centre, and two new legal firms, Enoch Evans and Pickford’s opening in the centre.

The new installation of tree flood lighting will also mark a wide range of community events throughout the year, from Purple Flag Month to St. Patrick’s Day.

Mike Bushell, Sutton Coldfield Town Centre BID Manager, said:

We are delighted to reveal just some of the exciting events coming to Sutton Coldfield this year. We are dedicated to developing the offering in Sutton Coldfield, from its restaurant quarter and retailers to night time economy and annual events, and the return of these much-loved festivals will further increase the town centre’s already vibrant and varied offering.

“We are very much looking forward to sharing more details with the community later this year,” he added.
